Lowey Blasts Treatment of Michele Bachmann On Jimmy Fallon Show As Sexist

Congresswoman says she doesn't agree with Bachmann's politics, but calls walk-on music insulting and inappropriate.

U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Westchester, Rockland, today blasted the show "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" for introducing GOP presidential candidate U.S Rep. Michele Bachmann with walk-on music entitled “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.”

“The choice of song to introduce Michele Bachmann on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night was insulting and inappropriate," Lowey said. “I do not share Michele Bachmann’s politics, but she deserves to be treated with respect.  No female politician – and no woman – should be subjected to sexist and offensive innuendo like she was last night."

“The Roots, Jimmy Fallon, and NBC should apologize,” Lowey said.

ABC News says that the drummer for the band on the show "apologized sort of" for playing the song.

Agree.............. One point that wasn't mentioned in the article was that the drummer of the Roots is a big Obama supporter and even gave money to Obama's campaign. The Jimmy Fallon Show is kinda like the government ; NO checks , balances or oversight. I think ALL of the incumbents, from BOTH parties, need to be VOTED out. We're losing the "fairness" that use to be America to these dopes on TV, radio and the movies.

I think Lowey is projecting.

Paul T. pity that you have the same snarky nasty attitude that the drummer had. Why is it ever OK with you to treat people with this kind of disrespect? Didn't your mother raise you better than that? One of the biggest problems we have today is this severe lack of civility and it permeates all of our politics and even our entertainment. I think it's sad that only one person had the courage to say that this was going too far. Most of you would have been outraged if this happened to a Democrat Congressperson, but you partisans are all so gleeful to see it happen to someone who's ideas you disagree with. Shame on all of you.

Not a fan of Lowey ... but, in this case, she's right.
