[VIDEO] Larchmont's Rosen Drops Out Of Congressional Race After New District Lines Are Drawn

He's endorsing Rye Town Supervisor to run against U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey.

Larchmont Republican Mark Rosen has ended his 2012 bid for Congress and this morning endorsed Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin to challenge U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Westchester/Rockland.

Rosen said the judicially-imposed reallignment of Congressional Districts in New York has taken him out of Lowey's district for the 2012 race, and put him in the district of U.S. Rep. Eliot Engel, D-Bronx/Westchester.

Rosen, 50, said he was encouraged by some supporters to move so he could remain in Lowey's district and challenge her in November. However, Rosen said he felt such a move would be too disruptive to his family and he rejected the idea.

Carvin, who had considered a run for U.S. Senate, said he plans on formally announcing his plans within about a week.

The redistricting takes the Sound Shore communities out of Lowey's district, putting them in Engel's district, which includes part of the Bronx
