Cooling Centers in New Rochelle Tuesday, Wednesday

Predicted heat means residents need places to cool off.

Because of the oppressive heat predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday, the City of New Rochelle will extend hours of the for a cooling center.

The facility, located at 94 Davis Ave., will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additionally, the New Rochelle Public Library will be open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high near 95 for Tuesday. For Wednesday, the high is forecast to be 94.

The city reminds residents to avoid strenuous activity, especially outdoors, dress in light-color clothing, drink lots of water and eat light meals with fruits and vegetables.
