Comprehensive Plan to Be Discussed Tonight

The meeting will feature a summary of the city's strengths and weaknesses, and audience members will be asked to give their opinions.

From the City of New Rochelle:

The second public meeting for “EnvisioNR,” the planning process for the creation of the City of New Rochelle’s Comprehensive Plan, will be held on Wednesday, October 3 at 7 p.m. at Monroe College, 145 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle. Public parking is available in the New Roc Garage.

During the meeting, steering committee members will present a brief summary of the City’s strengths and weaknesses as gathered from previous public meetings; and ask those in attendance to weigh in on where opportunities are and how best to maximize them. All ages welcome! For more information, contact the Planning Dept. at 914-654-2185 or visit www.newrochelleny.com/envisionr

The EnvisioNR planning process began in June with a series of public meetings, and continued with with the launch of an interactive forum website, www.envisionr.com. The site has engaged hundreds of residents and stakeholders to date and is regularly updated with information and conversations.

“During our first series of meetings, we were able to gain a wealth of foundational information, thanks to the contribution and participation of so many in the community,” noted Eleanor Sharpe, Planning Director. “As we go forward, it is essential that the dialogue continues.”

To learn more and to get involved, the public is invited to attend the October meeting and/or participate online through the envisioNR.com Web site. Staff is also available to answer questions by phone and in person at City Hall during business hours.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
