Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino will officially open the new Playland boardwalk at noon on Thursday, his office announced.

The boardwalk, which suffered major damage during Hurricane Sandy, has been completely rebuilt. and a major section of the boardwalk –from  – had to be completely rebuilt.

The Phase I rebuild, which included repairs from the Pier Restaurant to the miniature golf course, was completed ahead of schedule and under budget last May.

The section from the miniature golf course to the Rye Town Park (Phase II) suffered damage and was fixed last year. But officials decided to have that section rebuilt with the same long lasting Brazilian hardwood used to rebuild the Phase I section and that work was recently completed.

In addition to Astorino, other officials expected to be on hand include Bill McNeice, president of Titan Construction, and Scott Donnelly, project manager, for the county's Department of Public Works.

Oh dear. I suspect he's going to be busy doing other things. Hopefully getting the DPW to remove the gravel and stuff from the Parkette and planting some grass seed. Never seen him down at Playland. That means you're going to miss all the fun! It's going to be a nice day and the new boardwalk has turned out to be beautifully done, you should check it out.

This is supposed to happen at 11:00am. Sure hope that whatever Legislators are there with him for the photo op make sure someone walks him over to the parking lot to see an outline of the Field Zone footprint so he can see how large it is.

Well Deirdre, I guess I'll just have to wait until summer when I can ogle Mr. Scott at the RGC in his Speedo lounging around the pool and smoking a cigar.

Ok, Dita, as per your sardonic wit, that's mean, but it's also pretty funny. Gotta give you that one. Ugh, what a visual. Speedos are NEVER a good thing. EVER. Uggggh.
