Yorktown Man Charged with TD Bank Robbery

Mark A. Sindaco, a 33-year-old Yorktown resident, was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony.

The man wanted in connection with the robbery of a TD Bank branch in Jefferson Valley late Monday afternoon has been caught, Yorktown police said Tuesday.

Police received an anonymous tip, which resulted in the arrest of Mark A. Sindaco, a 33-year-old Yorktown resident. He was arrested Monday at around 10:10 a.m. and was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, Yorktown police Lt. Kevin Soravilla said in a press release.

Police said Sindaco went into the bank Monday at about 4:50 p.m. and passed a handwritten note to the bank teller threatening he had a handgun and demanding money. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The bank was open at the time of the robbery with several employees and at least one customer inside the bank, police said. No weapon was displayed and no one was injured during the robbery.

Yorktown and Westchester County police officers used search dogs to comb the Jefferson Valley area in search of the man on Monday, but that turned unsuccessful. Police obtained surveillance video of the robber and circulated his image to the local media.

Sindaco was taken into custody without incident and was transported to police headquarters where he was processed on the charge.

The man is being held awaiting arraignment on Tuesday.
