'Unusual Call' Raises Security at Iona College

Security levels were raised slightly Thursday at Iona College in New Rochelle after the switchboard received what is being described as "an unusual call."

Todd Wilson, senior director of marketing and communication, said the phone call was received a little after noon.

"No threats were made," he said, but the call raised enough questions that college officials contacted the New Rochelle Police Department.

"We consulted with the NRPD," Wilson said, "and decided it didn't require extraordinary measures."

He said no alerts were sent out to students or staff and that security will be a little more heightened for a while longer.
