Port Chester Police Nab 'Grease Bandits'

Arrest information is supplied by the Port Chester Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Port Chester Police arrested a pair of Westchester men accused of stealing grease from its receptacle out back of a local restaurant.

Michael  Frazier-Footes, 40, of 39 Elliot St., Mt. Vernon and Michael Rush, 50, 23 First St., New Rochelle each were charged with attempted petit larceny.

At about 4:40 a.m. on Nov. 25, a Cousin Frankie’s employee arrived at the restaurant at 112 Willett Ave. and saw two men siphoning grease from a vat outside, according to Lt. James Ladeairous. The employee asked what they were doing and the men told him they were there to collect the grease—but the worker knows who regularly picks up the slimy, valuable stuff, police said.

The employee called police and the pair took off in a dark blue van (pictured) which police later identified and pulled over. Inside was a large container and electronic siphoner, police said. Ladeairous said police use the term “grease bandits” to describe those who steal grease from restaurants.
