Police Confirm Body in Hudson Was Mamaroneck College Student

Written by Krista Madsen.

State police on Tuesday revealed that it took an analysis of dental records for the county medical examiner's office to identify the human remains found in the Hudson River as those of missing 20-year-old Denis S. Lukashkov.

The Cornell University student from Mamaroneck had abandoned his car on the Tappan Zee Bridge early the morning of September 4. Police had been searching for him since, hesitant to conclude he had jumped from the bridge since they saw no evidence in his history—no note, nothing indicated from interviewing his family members—leading to suicidal tendencies.

At last however on the morning of Saturday, September 7, officials found a body in the river near Dobbs Ferry. At the time, "a positive identification could not be determined," state police said.

"State Police turned to dental records, and through a forensic analysis by the Medical Examiners office, the identity of the body was confirmed as that of Denis S. Lukashkov," police said in a press release Tuesday. "At this time State Police do not suspect any foul play."
