Police Blotter: Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

A half pound of marihuana lands New Rochelle man in prison.

Burglary: A PlayStation worth $300, a LCD television worth $1,500 and a surround sound receiver worth $300 was reported missing from a student’s residence on North Avenue sometime between March 13 and March 14. The resident told police the door was unlocked before leaving for spring break. The incident was reported on March 16. 

Sometime between March 14 and March 15, an Apple laptop worth $800, a Dell laptop worth $400 and an Xbox worth $300 were reported missing from a student residence on Coligni Avenue. The owner told police a window was left unlocked before leaving for spring break. The incident was reported on March 16. Other than being owned by college students, police say there was no other evidence linking the two burglaries.

Marijuana Sale Arrest: On March 16, New Rochelle Police executed a warrant to search 28-year-old Justin Holland’s Morris Street residence. Police allegedly found a half pound of marijuana, scales and drug paraphernalia and arrested Holland for two counts of fourth-degree criminal sale of marijuana, misdemeanors, and third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony.

Larceny of a Motor Vehicle: Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on March 16 and 6:10 a.m. on March 17, a 2008 Kenworth tractor trailer was stolen from the Radisson Plaza parking lot. The owner told police the vehicle was locked and secured at night.

Assault: A 59-year-old man was attacked on North Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on March 17. He told police he was walking home from the New Rochelle train station when he was punched and knocked to the ground. The victim told police he was punched by a young man but could not describe the suspect further. He did say he fled the scene in a black SUV. The victim was treated at .

Larceny from a Motor Vehicle: Sometime between midnight and 8:30 p.m. on March 18, an E-ZPass was stolen from an unlocked 2000 Ford parked on Beattie Lane.

Burglary: On March 15, a flat-screen television worth $350 and a marine radio worth $350 were stolen from a boat outside of 2 Town Dock Rd. There were no signs of forced entry. The owner reported the incident on March 18.

Robbery: On March 18, an 18-year-old Mount Vernon resident was jumped by two black men on 6th Street and robbed of his phone. The incident was reported by a passerby. The victim refused to cooperate further.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
