Police Blotter: Girl Survives Jump from 5th Floor Apartment

Residents told police they heard female voices arguing inside the apartment and then later saw a young girl on the balcony.

Attempted Suicide: Around 3:48 p.m. on Dec. 4, a 13-year-old girl jumped from the balcony from the fifth floor balcony of her Pelham Road apartment. Police say there was a domestic dispute between the girl, her sister and her mother.

When paramedics arrived at the scene the girl was alert and conscious but complained of back and leg pain. She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and was treated for a broken arm and a broken leg.

Residents told police they heard two females having a dispute inside the apartment and saw a female outside by herself.

Police said the girl is known to them. The incident is still under investigation. Because the girl is a juvenile, police cannot release her name or any further information.

Menacing: On Dec. 3, 19-year-old Michael Forrester allegedly pulled a knife on his uncle during a dispute in a Division Street residence. Forrester was arrested and charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

Burglary: On Dec. 5, an 11-year-old resident returned home from school to a ransacked Franklin Avenue apartment. There were no signs of forced entry, but two gold chains worth $400 were reported missing. The lock was broken to a non-family member's door, but nothing was reported missing from that room.

Larceny of a motor vehicle: Sometime between 1 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 5, a 51-year-old woman claimed her 1998 Honda parked outside her Lispenard Avenue residence went missing.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
