The 17th time wasn’t a charm for a Mount Vernon man who was charged with a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation after he ran a red light in New Rochelle early Sunday.
Donald Monfries, 26, of Mount Vernon, was arrested Sunday after he drove a black, 2004 Mercury through a red light on Huguenot Street and North Avenue at about 2 a.m.
New Rochelle police said Monfries had 17 license suspensions dating back as far as 2008. All of the suspensions originated from the Bronx, according to police.
A person can be charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation if they have had 10 or more license suspensions issued on 10 different dates for failing to appear in court or pay a fine.
It was unclear Monday when Monfries next court appearance was scheduled.
