New Rochelle McDonald's Fire Extinguished Quickly

The fire occurred Tuesday morning on Main Street.

A morning fire at McDonald's was quickly extinguished, according to eyewitness reports.

Around 9:30 a.m., Kevin Kiernan, business development manager at New Rochelle Chevrolet, was getting ready to leave his business to get coffee, when he saw and heard the New Rochelle Fire Department arrive in force.

"The fire started at a grill," Kiernan said, adding he was told this by Chief Louis DiMeglio.

Kiernan said the firefighters climbed a ladder to inspect if the damage had reached the roof, but it had not.

"Ultimately, they had to close it (the restaurant) down for the day," he said. The firefighters were "in and out" quickly, Kiernan said.
