A two-alarm fire heavily damaged a two-story house Friday at 231 Boulevard East in New Rochelle.
The New Rochelle Fire Department showed up in force to fight the fire that went to a second alarm around 5:30 p.m.
Much of the surrounding neighborhood was blocked off by police, as residents watched the fire fighters try to control the fire.
By 6:30 p.m., there was still heavy smoke coming from the structure. Fire fighters could be seen coming down from the crumbling slate roof.
