After nine years and $800 billion, the war in Iraq is officially over. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta declared it was the end, as the final troops began leaving the country.
The end came two weeks earlier than the U.S. and Iraq governments had originally agreed.
Not everyone is happy that U.S. forces are leaving.
Several Republican leaders, including Sen. John McCain of Arizona, have said President Obama's leadership concerning Iraq was deserving of scorn.
