Former New Rochelle Resident Morton J. Baum Dies at 89

Baum was chairman of the New Rochelle Zoning Board of Appeals.

Former New Rochelle resident Morton J. Baum died Sept. 10, 2013 in Palm Beach, FL.

He was born April 3, 1924, in Bridgeport, CT, to Isidor and Sarah Baum. 

Baum served as chairman of the New Rochelle Zoning Board of Appeals and was co-founder of the New Rochelle Neighborhood Revitalization Corp.

He was an officer and board member of Beth El Synagogue in New Rochelle and the Hebrew Home in Riverdale. 

Baum was an officer in a family-owned paper manufacturer (APW) and Bridgeport Holding Corp.

He was the loving husband of Elissa Kanner Baum; father of Simeon (Duffie), Deborah (Steve Rubenfeld), and Seth (Laura); grandpa of Sabrina, Gabrielle, Isadora, Jason, Jared, and Kyra Baum. Beloved brother to Seymour and Robert, Claire Goodfriend, Dolly Steinman and Phyllis Cohen, and Gladys Levin and Ruth Cohen (both deceased). 

Services were held at Beth El Synagogue in New Rochelle Friday.
