Posto 22 is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant. It’s intimate, often crowded, and chances are that, when you visit, you will run into someone you know.
We recently stopped by Posto 22 for a midweek meal and, no surprise, the joint was jumping. Conveniently, Posto 22 is located near to the residence towers and New Rochelle’s Metro-North station. Given its centrality, the restaurant is understandably popular with commuters and families — though Posto 22 also offers online ordering and will deliver to your door on those nights when hitting the sofa is your first order of business.
When you go, don’t miss Posto 22’s roomy list of more than seventy wines. Also, you’ll find fifteen specialty cocktails, including several non-alcoholic versions served, like their alcoholic cousins, in Mason jars. We snuggled up in the buzzy dining room with some AC and two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc — though, if it had been a cooler night, Posto 22’s dining garden might have beckoned.

On the menu, look for a crowd pleasing selection of Italian and Italian American dishes. We loved our pizza Margherita with sweet, deeply garnet tomato sauce punctuated by basil leaves and white pools of fior de latte. Don’t miss the Posto 22’s seductive pastas. We loved fat, bouncy tubes of rigatoni tossed with juicy ground sausage, sharp escarole, bursting cherry tomatoes and garlic. Also look for your favorite Italian standards including chicken scarpariello, veal piccata and penne alla vodka.
To end, we defy you not to love the sensation of cracking your fork into Posto 22’s cannolis. They’re filled with a sweet, yet tangy cream cheese filling. Sure, you could drive all the way across the county for a great Italian meal, but why drive out of town when you can get an equally great meal closer to home?
