Good News! Westchester County's real estate market in strong recovery!

Westchester County's real estate market continued its strong recovery of the past two years with double-digit increases in sales volume, and some price increases as well, per the Real Estate Report released by the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service, a subsidiary of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, Inc. The recent numbers were the highest posted with the MLS since 2007. On a percentage basis, in 2013, Westchester County experienced an increase in sales of 21% over the previous year. This bodes well for moderate growth in 2014. This report indicates that the Westchester housing market is emerging from a period of limited supply which resulted from the reluctance of potential sellers to list properties due to their concern over the economy.  Some concerns will continue to exist in 2014 because of high unemployment as well as uncertain federal legislative and regulatory changes that might negatively affect real estate.  It will be more important than ever for buyers to move hastily to get their paperwork in good order as soon as the decision to buy is made.
