New Rochelle children got into the Halloween spirit Saturday by painting downtown windows.
The event, part of the BID Family Fun Festival, was sponsored by the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District and the New Rochelle Public Library.
The children—and their families—had the opportunity to paint Halloween and Thanksgiving murals on downtown business windows and make colorful Halloween masks.

The parents and children were given a tray of painting supplies and were told which store window they could paint.
Participating stores included Raymond Opticians, Cool Connections, The Loop and Liebmans.
After the murals were painted on the windows of the
stores, the children returned to Library Green to create their Halloween masks using
various art supplies such as pipe cleaners, glitter, shells and feathers.
Organizers said the event allows children to contribute to their community at a

The next BID event is the Costume Parade at 9:45 a.m. Saturday October 26. The parade starts in front of Regal Cinemas in New Roc City and ends at Library Green and followed by pumpkin painting on the Green.
