School's Out, Stars Are In, March 25-29

Next week most kids are off for spring break, but at the Hudson River Museum we have lots of things to do to keep kids entertained. Join us every day, 1 - 4 pm for fun-filled activities.

It's going to be a busy week at the Hudson River Museum!  The Museum's Schools Out Stars Are In program is back next week, March 25 - 29 from 1 to 4 pm daily.  The program is broken up into two projects choices, focused on science or art.

This time around, students who choose the Science Project will have the opportunity to explore in the Museum's Riverama Gallery, where they will be looking at the lands, waters, animals and habitats in the Upper Hudson Valley.  Students will also use the RAVEN sound station to visualize and imitate the sounds of Hudson River animals and create a sculpture of their favorite animal sound.  A daily craft project and planetarium show are also on the agenda, and follow this schedule of events:

  • 3/25 Create a stone critter paper weight.
  • 3/26 Make a fish with colorful scales.
  • 3/27 Make a water bug that floats!
  • 3/28 Learn about the forest’s importance to the Hudson and make a forest diorama.
  • 3/29 Paint with sap from Hudson Valley trees.

Planetarium Shows at 2 pm - The Sky Tonight: Incoming!                                                            and 3:30 pm - Ocean of Air, Ocean of Space

3/28 Make a panoramic pop-up book
3/29 Make a panoramic view of the Hudson with help from other participants

The art project requires registration, and participants much purchase tickets, available here or at the Museum front desk.  Again, students can choose to come for one day or all three days, or even mix and match between the two program choices.  For this part of the program students may be dropped off.
