Westchester Chordsmen Bring Humor to "A Christmas Carol"

Editor's Note: The following was submitted by the Westchester Chordsmen.

The Westchester Chordsmen Chorus will perform a new version of Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Expect a lot more “hum” and less “bug” with this comical rendition scripted by Tony nominee, chorus member and Chappaqua resident Peter Kellogg that is sure to bring smiles and hearty belly laughs  to audience members.

The 60-plus members of the Westchester Chordsmen, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, will perform holiday songs that sound traditional, but have dramatically different parody lyrics, to tell their version of the classic Christmas tale. Port Chester resident John Fotia will play the part of Scrooge, and Tiny Tim will be played by Pleasantville resident Al Fennell (who is not so tiny!).

Also featured is world-renowned opera baritone and Westchester Chordsmen Chorus Director Keith Harris as Marley, singing the Gilbert & Sullivan classic "When the Night Wind Howls." The fast-paced and constantly surprising production promises to be entertaining for audience guests of all ages. The second act will feature holiday songs performed by the entire chorus and popular Chordsmen quartets. Crowd favorites include “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “The Secret of Christmas.”

During the past year and a half the Westchester Chordsmen Chorus have been very busy signing throughout North America. They performed at Carnegie Hall, and won the Division Contest in May 2013 that led to a showcase appearance at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Convention in Toronto in July.  The Westchester Chordsmen currently rank as the 38th best chorus in the world out of a total of 850 choirs.
