Thanksgiving: What's Open, What's Closed in New Rochelle

Thursday is Thanksgiving, a national holiday filled with food, football and parades.

Government offices are closed for the day, including New Rochelle City Hall, which is also closed Friday. There will be no mail delivery from the U.S. Postal Service Thursday.

There will be no garbage collection in New Rochelle Thursday or Friday.

The New Rochelle Public Library will be closed Thursday. New Rochelle School District schools and offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday.

Metro North is running extra trains for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Check their schedule here.

Many businesses will be closed Thursday, but don't worry. If you have last minute food purchases to make—you know, you forgot to get cranberry sauce—ShopRite and both Stop & Shops in New Rochelle will be open until 5 p.m.

If you have a favorite restaurant—and don't feel like cooking Thanksgiving dinner—it would be best to call ahead and see if it is open. Noma Social at the Radisson Hotel New Rochelle will be having a Thanksgiving buffet. Call for reservations.

Have a safe and happy holiday!
