New Rochelle LWV Cable Shows Feature Black History Author, Monroe College Exec. VP  

The following local people are interviewed on “City People and Issues,” produced by the League of Women Voters of New Rochelle, on Cablevision Channel 76, on Mondays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.

New Rochelle author-historian-journalist Linda Tarrant-Reid received rave reviews for her new book “Discovering Black America,” which she discusses with host Pearl Quarles. The program is at 7 pm on Mondays, Jan 21 and Feb. 4 and 18, and 9:30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Jan 23, 24 and Feb. 6,7, 20 and 21.

Marc Jerome, executive vice-president of Monroe College, discusses the history and mission of the college and its role in the redevelopment of downtown New Rochelle. Jerome is also president of the Business Improvement District. Host is Ina Aronow. The program is at 7 p.m. Mondays, Jan 28, and Feb. 11 and 25, and 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, 14, 27 and 28.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
