Produce and Baked Goods for Holidays Available at Farmers Markets

With the Thanksgiving and Hanukkah holidays looming, now is the time to head to your local farmers markets and stock up on vegetables and other things you might want for the feasts.

Amy Gardiner, the host of the New Rochelle Farmers Market run by Down to Earth Markets, said there are plenty of squash, string beans, potatoes and onions to be had, not to mention Brussels sprouts on the stalk.

While some things can be cooked ahead and frozen, "a lot can just be bought and can wait," she said.

Apples are still in good supply for making apple pies, Gardiner said.

"Or if you don't want to bake, you can buy pies from Meredith's Breads," she said, referring to one of the vendors.
