Paine Cottage in New Rochelle to Have Haunted House

Organizers say it will be spooky, but not too spooky.

The Thomas Paine Cottage will be the site Saturday of a Little Ghouls & Goblins Haunted Colonial House.

Organizer Karen Hessel said participants will be greeted by costumed people and taken into each of the "not too" haunted rooms.

The Haunted Colonial House will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Thomas Paine Cottage, 20 Sicard Ave. in New Rochelle.

Hessel said probably the scariest part of the whole thing will be taking a piece of candy from a bowl next to the was figure of Thomas Paine.

"It's a little bit spooky," she said. "You have to really want the candy."

There will also be a table in the kitchen where children, who are encouraged to come in costumes, can paint a pumpkin to take home.

Hessel said the cottage is trying to have more events and this is one way to teach children a little of the history of New Rochelle.

The cost of the Haunted Colonial House is $3 per person. It's an additional $5 to pick and paint a pumpkin.
