New Rochelle to Pick Up Discarded Christmas Trees

Don't put your tree in a plastic bag, and make sure all the decorations and tinsel are removed.

Even though it seems as though you just put up your Christmas trees, it's time to start thinking about getting rid of it.

As usual, New Rochelle sanitation crews will cart away your discarded Christmas tree through the month of January.

According to the City's Web site, Christmas trees must be stripped of tinsel, lights and ornaments and should not be put in a plastic bag.

All trees must be placed at the curb by Feb. 1, because after that date, the next opportunity for collection will be during yard waste collection beginning in the spring.
