The Red Balloon is a wordless 34-minute movie about a young boy who discovers a stray balloon that seems to have a mind of its own. Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, is about an English nanny who charms a household filled with mischievous children. The G-rated film runs 140 minutes.

From 10:30 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, December 27, at the Huguenot Children's Library, North Avenue and Eastchester Road, there will be holiday craft workshops with the motto "One man's junk is another man's treasure."

At 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, children's entertainer Jim McClenahan returns to the main library's Ossie Davis Theater for performances of magic and comedy.

The free programs are made possible by the Friends of New Rochelle Public Library and the Partnership for the Huguenot Children's Library.
