50th New Rochelle Thanksgiving Parade to Be Held Saturday

The annual Pancake Breakfast will be held before the parade.

Rain or shine, the 50th Annual Valenti-New Rochelle Thanksgiving Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 23.

The parade, which begins at North Avenue and Eastchester Road, will feature 10 floats, seven bands and over 40 organizations.

Participants will proceed down North Avenue turning right on Main Street and ending at Maple Avenue.

One of the floats will display Terrytoons cartoon characters, including Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle, repaired and repainted by over 40 New Rochelle High School National Art Honor Society students.

The Terrytoons animation studio was located in New Rochelle and operated from 1929 to 1968.

This year's grand marshall will be Domenic Procopio, a local businessman and president of the Calabria Mutual Aid Society. He is also Civil Service Chairman of the City of New Rochelle.

The other annual tradition of the day is the Pancake Breakfast held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the new wing cafeteria at New Rochelle High School, 265 Clove Rd. 

Admission is $5 per person. Proceeds benefit the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence enrichment programs.

Breakfast will be served by district administrators, principals and board of education members.
