WHY: With the number of people who have food allergies increasing at a significant rate, this potentially deadly disease is a growing public health issue. FARE (foodallergy.org) works on behalf of the 15 million Americans with food allergies, including all those at risk for life-threating anaphylaxis. In the U.S., food allergy affects 1 in every 13 children – roughly two in every classroom. FARE’s mission is to ensure the safety and inclusion of people with food allergies while relentlessly seeking a cure. The FARE WALK for FOOD ALLERGY is a family-friendly event that is taking place in more than 60 communities nationwide to fund food allergy education, advocacy, awareness and research. The FLY to say FAREwell to Food Allergies ride is a prelude to the FARE Westchester Walk which will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
