The Art and Iconography of Stained Glass
Shimmering,
iridescent, sumptuous…. Enjoy a fascinating look at that most
illuminating medium, stained glass. On Sunday, October 27th at 1 pm St. Augustine Church in Larchmont will present a lecture by Dr. Leslie Bussis Tait, an art historian
and museum educator at The Cloisters. Dr. Tait will discuss the artistry and the meaning
of stained glass – both its significance in church history and its relation to
the story of St. Augustine’s. Afterward, take a guided walk through the church
and see anew the stained glass windows.
Dr. Leslie Tait holds a BA in Culture
and Society from the State University of New York at Purchase and an M.A. and
Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University. She also attended the American
University of Paris. She is currently a
Museum Educator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
