JAZZ! New Jazz Trio at Recologie

LEA ,  three exceptionally talented
young women with rich and diverse ethnic backgrounds, who have come together to
produce a beautiful sound that is uniquely their own.  Meeting through a variety of musical
ensembles at Sarah Lawrence College, they discovered that they made beautiful
music together and formed their all-female trio which performs locally.

 Olivia Boisrond (Lili) grew up in Paris.  Her French and Italian heritage brings
multi-lingual and cultural influences that enrich the music chosen by the trio.
She brings her extensive Jazz experience (Paris is a city where Jazz is
thriving today and is known for the extraordinary contributions of the likes of
Django Reinhart and Stéphane Grappelli), to this amazing new group.

Emily Olsen is an American vocalist
and auxiliary percussionist from Santa Cruz, California, whose experience in
choir singing, arranging tunes from numerous genres for a cappella groups, and
playing African percussion in ensembles brings a rich harmonic and rhythmic
depth to the trio.  Her contribution is
augmented by her experience with electronic music.

Alaska Day, drawing on her Peruvian
and Filipina heritage, brings a uniquely rich rhythmic and melodic depth to the
group.  Having studied and played many instruments including, guitar,
bass, percussion, drums and vocals, her multi-lingual, musical and cultural
infusion contributes to the truly unique sound of this young and very talented
trio.

college structure, students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with these
extraordinary musicians. We build close, professional relationships in a
variety of ensembles ranging from Classical chamber groups to Jazz Vocal
Ensembles, Jazz Colloquiums and Blues and Funk groups.
