On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Davenport Club, 440 Davenport Avenue,


New Rochelle the Chamber of Commerce of New Rochelle and the Rotary Club of New Rochelle will be honored to have Mr. Robert P. Astorino the County Executive of Westchester as our keynote speaker.


Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is part of a new generation of American leaders who believe in facing our nation’s challenges head-on. Unsustainable spending, punishing taxes, and dangerously high debt levels threaten the economic foundation of this country and they must be dealt with before they grow worse.


Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino was elected in November 2009 after running a successful campaign to streamline county government and bring tax relief to homeowners and businesses. His message resonated with voters across Westchester as he was elected with 58 percent of the vote.


Astorino was first elected to public office at age 21, serving as a member of the Mount Pleasant Board of Education. During his tenure, he also served as the board’s vice president. He went on to serve for 12 years as a councilman on the Mount Pleasant Town Board, including six years as deputy supervisor. In 2003, he was elected to the Westchester County Board of Legislators.


As in the past Rob will discuss the state of the county, open the floor to questions and will also discuss the newly approved coalition budget.


The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1922, is committed to advancing the concerns of the New Rochelle business community and the economic vitality of the city. It provides a variety of services to its members and is an active participant in governmental affairs. The Chamber works closely with the city of New Rochelle to promote economic development and market assets of New Rochelle. Members are encouraged to participate.


The Chamber lobbies actively on behalf of the businesses it represents to ensure that New Rochelle provides a favorable environment in which to operate a business or profession. The Chamber’s numerous events have enhanced city life for many years.


The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

It seemed to me the key point of moving the City Yard from the waterfront was to open up theRead More waterfront and turn that run down and obsolete yard into a public park overlooking Long Island Sound. The westside site was the most cost effective place to move the yard. Not ideal, but no real alternative has been proposed. I don't think this has much to do with racism. All races can enjoy more of the waterfront. Any development around it will add to our tax base

Ms. Aronow, The issue is that an alternative has been suggested, Ward Acres, as it is much largerRead More and strategically beneficial for the City of New Rochelle. I don't think the recent public discussions has resulted in unanimity in terms of the waterfront being an entirely public venue for all races to enjoy.
