New Rochelle Elects County Legislators

Maisano was re-elected, but Marcotte's race too close to call.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This article has been updated to show the most recent result from the Board of Elections for the District 10 race between Sheila Marcotte and Mary Jo Jacobs.

New Rochelle votes went to the polls Tuesday and elected two newcomers to the Legislature and re-elected one incumbent.

Democrat Catherine Parker is the apparent winner over Republican John Verni, according to unofficial returns from the county Board of Elections, for the District 7 Legislature seat.

Parker is a Rye city councilwoman and small business owner. Verni is an attorney and real estate redeveloper.

District 7 contains Mamaroneck, Rye, Larchmont and parts of New Rochelle and Harrison.

In District 10, incumbent Sheila Marcotte, R-C-I, is showing 50-50 split with challenger Mary Jo Jacobs, D-WF. The last update from the county Board of Election was at 12:43 a.m.

Marcotte is a real estate agent; Jacobs is a human resources and facilities management consultant.

District 10 is comprised of Eastchester, Tuckahoe and part of New Rochelle.

Incumbent James Maisano, R-C-WF-I, handily won over challenger Stavros Pantelis, D-I.

Maisano is an attorney and Pantelis is a realtor.

District 11 contains Pelham, Pelham Manor and part of New Rochelle.

Legislators are elected for a two-year term with a base salary of $49,200 per year.
