Maisano Pulls Off Write-in Campaign for Independence Line

Stavros Pantelis was endorsed by the Independence Party.

County Legislator James Maisano successfully mounted a write-in campaign to win a spot on the Independence Party line in the November election for County Legislator District 11.

Maisano bested Stavros Pantelis, who was the Independence Party's endorsed candidate.

The unofficial results, according to the Westchester County Board of Elections, was 103 votes for Maisano and 23 for Pantelis.

Maisano said he thought the leaders of the Independence Party betrayed their own principals by only endorsing Democrats in contested races for county legislator.

"We decided to go directly to the Independence Party voters in a primary election," he said, asking them to write in his name instead of voting for Pantelis.

"We are thrilled that so many Independence voters came out to support our re-election campaign," Maisano said.

Maisano will also appear on the Republican line for the November general election. Pantelis will also appear on the Democratic line.
