United Water New Rochelle Asks for Water Conservation

Emergency valve repairs necessitate a switch in water supply. Customers are asked not to water their lawns.

From United Water New Rochelle:

United Water New Rochelle is asking customers to cease outdoor water use while the New York City Department of Environmental Protection makes emergency repairs to a valve on the Delaware Water Supply system which provides water to the service area. During that time, United Water will provide customers with water from the Catskill Water Supply.

“We are asking customers to conserve because we will have less water available while the NYDEP makes the repairs,” said Chris Graziano, director of operations for United Water New Rochelle. “They should not water their lawns during that time and should use household water for essential purposes only.”

In addition, Graziano explained that customers may notice low water pressure until they switch back to the Delaware Water Supply.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate our customers’ cooperation during this time,” said Graziano.

Repairs are expected to be completed Wednesday evening.

They said it was just through today. I don't have a green thumb, but will that make much of a difference?

It seemed to me the key point of moving the City Yard from the waterfront was to open up theRead More waterfront and turn that run down and obsolete yard into a public park overlooking Long Island Sound. The westside site was the most cost effective place to move the yard. Not ideal, but no real alternative has been proposed. I don't think this has much to do with racism. All races can enjoy more of the waterfront. Any development around it will add to our tax base

Ms. Aronow, The issue is that an alternative has been suggested, Ward Acres, as it is much largerRead More and strategically beneficial for the City of New Rochelle. I don't think the recent public discussions has resulted in unanimity in terms of the waterfront being an entirely public venue for all races to enjoy.
