Twice a year, the New Rochelle fire department ladder trucks have a job unrelated to burning buildings and smokey upper floors.
First is decking the stations with holiday lights. And then, come January, the more melancholy task of taking them down.
Thursday afternoon, firemen at the North Avenue outpost—Station 3—were removing the ornaments from the building's brick exterior.
The lights go up in mid-December and come down shortly after the new year begins, firefighters told Patch.
