'Tanning Mom' Coming to Mt. Kisco This Friday

Patricia Krentcil, known as "The Tanning Mom," will be guest at book launch party.

Patricia Krentcil, commonly referred to as "Tanning Mom," will be in Mount Kisco this Friday as a special guest for the launch of a new book, according to a press announcement for the event.

The book, called The Skin Regime: Bootcamp for Beautiful Skin, is by author Dana Ramos. It details The Skin Regime, which involves ways to repair skin damaged by the sun. Ramos, a Westchester County resident, is described on the book's website as a "skin-care enthusiast," and a writer. Dr. David Bank, a Mount Kisco dermatologist, has written the foreword.

The release also states that Krentcil has benefited from the method: "Ms. Krentcil is healing her sun-damaged skin with The Skin Regime."

Krentcil, who is shown in news photos as having had a dark tan complexion, has received negative publicity this year. In May, the Nutley, NJ, mom was charged with child endangerment after letting her 5-year-old daughter use a tanning salon bed, according to our sister site Belleville-Nutley Patch and pleaded not guilty. Recently, Krentcil has tried to stay away from tanning, and posed on the cover of in Touch to show her early results.

In an interview with the magazine, she described her urges to get tan, even ignoring a doctor's advice to cut back. Her situation has been described in media outlets as "tanorexia."

The book event is at 7 p.m. Friday at Westchester Mixed Martial Arts in Mount Kisco.
