Here are some local deals going on right now around the Sound Shore.

With this week's deals, you can treat a buddy to a free beverage at Beanberry's two-for-one happy hour special on Sunday, get discounted biking accessories with the purchase of a new bike, and find great savings women's clothing, office supplies and backpacks.

1. Monthly Two-for-One Special at

The deal: On the 21st of every month, offers 2-for-1 "happy hour" specials on smoothies, iced coffee, iced tea and homemade lemonade from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

2. Backpack Sale at

The deal: Get an early start on back-to-school shopping at Modell's pre-back to school sale. Save $10 on all Nike and Adidas backpacks and slings. Modell's has store locations in and in Pelham, at 843 Pelham Parkway.

The deal: Dusty Rose, a women's clothing boutique in Rye Brook is currently offering discounts of up to 75 percent off on select summer merchandise.

5. Save on Ink, Toner and Paper at Best Buy
The deal: Every Wednesday, Best Buy offers a 20 percent discount on all ink, toner and paper. (Excluding HP ink and toner.) The closest Best Buy store is located at 555 E. Sandford Blvd. in Mount Vernon.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
