Costume Parade Saturday in New Rochelle

The annual event will end with pumpkin painting at Library Green.

Spooky creatures and, undoubtedly, a few super-cute ones will march Saturday in the annual Merchant's Urchins Parade.

Sponsored by the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District and part of the BID's Family Days series, the parade will line up at 9:45 a.m. at New Roc City in front of Regal Imax theaters off of Le Count Place.

The parade will make its way through the downtown area to Library Green in front of the New Rochelle Public Library.

There will be treats and pumpkin painting at the library after the parade. In the event of inclement weather, the parade wil be canceled but the pumpkin painting will be relocated to a place to be determined.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of rain after noon Saturday. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 69.

And Saturday during the parade would be the best time to take your little urchin's photo and enter his or her costume in Patch's Best Halloween Costume (in America!) contest. You could win $5,000. That certainly would be a treat and not a trick. Here is everything you need to know to enter before Nov. 1.

BID Family Days are made possible by a partnership with the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with the Library, New Rochelle City School District and the City of New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department.
