You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, New Rochelle Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Serving New Rochelle for nearly 15 years now and holding its prime real estate spot just off of I-95, Modern Restaurant and Pizzeria is well known for their old-fashioned brick oven pizza, pasta dishes and homemade Italian dinners.
What originally began as a bread company, the restaurant has transitioned over time into a full-service restaurant, serving customers in a family-friendly atmosphere and that has developed a loyal following in New Rochelle and Westchester County.
One customer wrote in to zagat.com that there is no pressure to break out the fancy dress clothes when going out to eat at Modern Restaurant.
"Very family and relaxed atmosphere. The pizza is great, not a sophisticated, dress-up place but more like home away from home."
Modern has been the proud recipient of many awards over the years, including a "Best of Westchester" award by Westchester magazine in 2007, and numerous Zagat awards, citing the restaurant's thin crust pizza, southern Italian food and good value.
Their entrees range in price from $16.95 on up to about $25 and their pasta dishes start at $10.95. From the value to the quality of the dishes, customers seem to be overwhelmingly impressed with Modern Restaurant and Pizzeria.
"Unbelievable. That food is outragous. I'm italian, I spend my summers in Italy and I can tell you it's all southern native Italian food. Sebby the owner is first generation Neapolitan and he captures the regions food perfectly," stated one customer on tripadvisor.com who also commented about the Nutella calzones that are also a specialty at the restuarant.
Modern also provides catering services for all occasions, with half and full trays of most of their menu items so that your event is covered whether large or small.
