Road closures and power outages

Find out what's happening in New Rochellewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will began limited service on the Harlem line Wednesday.

Cancellations and rain dates

  • New Rochelle School District: All schools and the district office will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1-2. 
  • New Rochelle City Hall: Recycyling will resume Wednesday, Oct. 31. Normal garbage collection will take place on Thursday and Friday.
  • New Rochelle City Hall: There is a new number for downed trees. Call the Department of Public Works 24-hour hotline at 914-740-6118.
  • New Rochelle City Hall: A state of emergency, declared at 11 p.m. Monday, continues to be in effect.
  • New Rochelle City Hall: The special City Council meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.
  • New Rochelle Public Library: The libraries are open with full services. Special activities will be provided for days when school is not in session.
  • Salesian High School: Will be open for classes Thursday, Nov. 1.
  • Iona Preparatory: Closed Thursday, Nov. 1.
  • Iona College: Iona College will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1-2 for classes and administration offices due to inclement weather.
  • College of New Rochelle: Classes are cancelled and offices are closed on all campuses of The College of New Rochelle on Thursday, November 1.
  • Monroe College: The college's Bronx and New Rochelle campuses will be open Thursday, Nov. 1.
  • New Rochelle YMCA: The YMCA will be closed until further notice.
  • Westchester County: The scheduled celebration of Italian Heritage Month planned for Monday evening before the BOL meeting has been postponed. A new date for the celebration has not been decided yet.
  • Westchester County: The veterans town hall scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 30 is cancelled. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
