5 Things to Put in Your Weekend Planner

Events for the upcoming weekend include a zombie prom, 'Hounds on the Sound,' and an 'antique and unique' car rally.

The Bayou Restaurant, 580 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon, Saturday, Oct. 1, 9 p.m.
Why Go: Saturday is ghoul's night out at The Bayou Restaurant. The Bayou's fourth annual Zombie Prom will feature drink specials and live music by Brooklyn rock band Underwhelmed. There will be a $100 prize for the "best dressed" zombie prom king and queen.

Pricing: $5 cover.

, 2094 Boston Post Rd., Larchmont, Saturday, Oct. 1, 8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Corey Glover, lead singer of hard rock band Living Colour, and singer/guitarist Danielia Cotton will perform together at the Watercolor Cafe.
Pricing: $20.

, Weyman Ave., New Rochelle, Sunday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Why Go: New Rochelle Humane Society and Pet Rescue have partnered to raise money for cats and dogs in need. The annual Hounds on the Sound event will begin with registration at 10 a.m. for the 11:30 1.5-mile walk for dogs and their people along a path bordering the Long Island Sound in Glen Island Park. The dog walk will be followed by a fun-filled day in the park, featuring activities for kids, vendors, refreshments, demonstrations, dog contests and music. There will also be a raffle for Giants tickets. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption.
Pricing:
$25 for individual walker registration; $40 for family registration (up to 2 adults plus kids).

, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, Sunday, Oct. 2, 3 p.m.
Why Go: The Capriccio Ensemble concert will feature a trio comprised of Natalie Kriegler (violin), Amy Kriesgler (flute) and Margery Fitts (harp). The trio will perform pieces by baroque, romantic and neo-romantic French composers such as Loiellet, Saint-Saëns, Ibert and Ravel.
Pricing: Suggested donation, $2.

, 895 Shore Rd., Bronx, Sunday, Oct. 2, 1 p.m.
Why Go: Owners of antique and unique cars are invited to join a rally to benefit the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. Call 1-718-885-1461 or email for rally details.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
