Which Local Businesses Should Go in the Hall of Fame?

The Business Council of Westchester is calling for nominations.

One of Westchester's top business groups seeks nominations for its Westchester County Business Hall of Fame.

For a decade the hall of fame awards have recognized local businesses in five categories:

  • The Corporate Citizenship Award
  • The Entrepreneurial Success Award
  • The Small Business Success Award
  • The Women in Business Success Award
  • The Family Business Success Award

Members of the business community are encouraged to nominate a client, colleague, vendor, friend or their own business; nominees do not have to be Business Council members, according to Hillary Millman, the council's director of communications.

The Business Council of Westchester only accepts nominations online, at http://www.westchesterny.org/grow/hofnominate.html. The deadline is Jan. 13.

The program is sponsored by MasterCard Worldwide and Entergy.

The Westchester County Business Hall of Fame Awards Dinner will be held on April 19 at the in New Rochelle.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
