Where to Spend Super Bowl Sunday in New Rochelle

Here are some suggestions for the big game.

There is more than average interest in Sunday's Super Bowl game, what with New Rochellean Ray Rice playing on the Baltimore Ravens team.

So how will you be spending the big day? Remember: There's always the Puppy Bowl.

Spectators Sports Pub & Restaurant will have a free half-time buffet, along with draft-beer specials and tons of swag to give away.

CJ Cullens Tavern will be offering a free hot and cold buffet during the game.

Backyard Pub has its TVs ready to go and they will be having a special on wings and other foods while you watch the game.

Up North Avenue, Beechmont Tavern, which seems to have a television in every corner, will be selling $3 domestic beer and half-price boneless wings.

If you want to stay at home, there's always AJ's Burgers who can whip up your Super Bowl feast. For $89.99, you can get 30 wings, 12 cheeseburger sliders, 12 pulled pork sliders and 18 dogs in dough, along with chips, salsa, guacamole and sourcream. As a bonus, AJ's is throwing in six free mini-brownies and six free mini-cannolis. And if you order that, please tell me what time I should come over.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
