Pets at New Rochelle Shelter Have Thanksgiving

Pets waiting to be adopted at the New Rochelle Humane Society were treated to an early Thanksgiving dinner.

From Best Friends Pet Care:

The homeless pets in the care of the New Rochelle Humane Society enjoyed a special Thanksgiving feast this week. The meal, which featured roasted turkey, vegetable sides and sweet potatoes, was prepared by the pet-loving staff of Best Friends Pet Care's Harrison and White Plains centers.

The turkey dinner for pets is a holiday tradition at Best Friends, which hosts the feast every year for family pets boarding over Thanksgiving at its area pet care centers.

“We know pets are part of the family, and if they were at home over the holiday, they’d be enjoying treats from the family dinner table,” said Best Friends White Plains Manager Tara Manganiello.

In the spirit of sharing, Best Friends staff decided to prepare turkey dinners especially for the shelter pets. Best Friends staffers visited the shelter to serve the meal and even hand-fed some of the dogs and cats.

“We wish every dog could have Thanksgiving dinner, especially those waiting for forever homes,” said Best Friends Harrison Manager Chris Carpenzano. “We’re happy to be able to share the holiday with the pets at the Humane Society.”

Best Friends Pet Care offers boarding, grooming and doggy day camp at in White Plains at 114 S. Kensico Ave. and in Harrison at 590 Harrison Rd. For information call 1-888-FOR-PETS or visit www.bestfriendspetcare.com.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
