Costco Gas Station Open in New Rochelle

Discounted gas is available to Costco members.

There's a new place to get gasoline in New Rochelle, as long as your membership fees are paid up.

Costco, located at 1 Industrial Ln., carved out a piece of the parking lot and constructed a multi-pump gas station.

"It adds service to our members," said Yoram Rubanenko, vice president of operations for the northeast. "Anything we can do to increase the value to our membership, we try to do."

The new location, he said, is only the third Costco gas station in the state. The other two are in Nanuet and Staten Island. There 15 Costco wholesale stores in New York.

Rubanenko said the reason for so few is that the approval process is difficult in New York and frequently the existing store doesn't have enough land.

"We don't want to take away from the parking field," he said, "because that will ultimately hurt the business."

Additional personnel were added to man the gas station, Rubanenko said.

"It drives traffic to the store," he said. "It increases sales at the store" because the members can get more done in one trip.

Gas prices Monday were $3.57 a gallon for regular unleaded and $3.79 a gallon for premium unleaded.

The station is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Rubanenko said the parking area, beginning the week of July 23, will be resurfaced and restriped. He said the work should only take one week to complete.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
