1Intermediate/Advanced Chess Nuts Club

Why Go: For ages 6 and older. Experienced chess players can join Alan Abrams's class to sharpen their skills. Players must know how all the pieces move, the point value of the pieces, how to castle and how to checkmate.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Where/When:
The, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham, Friday, Jan. 6, 4:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 7-8, 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. 
Why Go: Who doesn’t love them? Michaelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo and Donatello otherwise known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will be on the screen at the Pelham Picture House. After being exposed to radiation, these four average teenage turtles mutate into ninjas and live in city sewers. This live-action film adaptation of the cult comic book and TV show features early innovations in puppetry techniques from Jim Henson's Creature Shop. This family film is good for ages 7 and older. 
Pricing: $12; $10 for students.

3. Three Kings Day Crafts

, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, Friday, Jan. 6, 4-6 p.m.
Why Go: Children of all ages are invited to attend when the traditions of Central and Latin America are celebrated during this annual event marking the close of the holiday season. This year families will have fun making piñatas in a craft workshop.

4). The Bokandeye Dance Troupe
Where/When:
/Ossie Davis Theater, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, Saturday, Jan. 7, 11 a.m.-noon.
Why Go: The fabulous culminating performance of the seven-week African Dance and Drum Workshops led by Anthony Wooden of Bokandeye Dance, starring members of his troupe, will be held Saturday. The traditional movements and rhythms of African village life will reverberate throughout the theater. This annual event is always filled-to-capacity, so be sure to arrive early. Great for all ages.

5). Reptile Expo
Where/When
: Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains, Sunday, Jan. 8, 10 a.m-4 p.m.
Why Go: OK, so this may not be for all kids but for those who love things sllllitherly and wigggggly, and are not all that squeamish, thousands of live pet reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates will be on display and for sale Sunday at the New York Metro Reptile Show. You will also find books, supplies, cages and more at more than 200 vendor tables and a few recoiling visitors, but please leave your pets at home. And if the kids are going, they must be accompanied by someone older than 21.
Pricing: $10, $5 for ages 7 to 12, free for younger than 7.
