Rockwell Painting Set $46M Record at Auction

A painting by Norman Rockwell painted in 1951 was sold for a record $46 million Wednesday.

According to npr.org, Saying Grace topped Rockwell's previous record of $15 million, which was for Breaking Home Ties.

On Wednesday, Sotheby's auctioned off three paintings done by Rockwell, who lived and had a studio in New Rochelle until he began the process of moving to Vermont in 1939.

He is best known for his cover illustrations for Saturday Evening Post.

Rockwell was one of the first group of New Rochelleans to be honored with induction into the New Rochelle Walk of Fame, which rings Ossie Davis Park at Library Green.
