New Rochelle's Courtney Johnson Playing in NewRo Thursday

New Rochelle musician Courtney Johnson—seen in the video above with Janelle Monae—will lead her group at a city restaurant for a one-night holiday celebration Thursday.

The trumpeter and the Courtney Johnson Quintet—Brian Carter on drums, David Joubert on piano, Devin Starks on bass, Michael Stephenson on tenor sax and two featured vocalists, Tradonioa Baker (seen recently on “Good Day New York,” performing with the Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir) and Shakira Thomas-Atily (former lead singer of Whitney Houston’s group Sunday—will play at Alvin & Friends, located at 14 Memorial Highway in New Rochelle. The establishment earned a “Best of Westchester 2013” nod from Westchester Magazine.

You can also see Johnson in “Black Girls Rock” (in video above) which will be re-broadcast on BET at 8 p.m. on Dec. 24.
