New Rochelle Opera Presents Four-Soprano Concert

The concert will be held in the Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium at Iona College.

Offering a delightful contrast to their male counterparts, four exciting young sopranos in concert will be presented by New Rochelle Opera on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. at the Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium of in New Rochelle. Featured performers are dramatic soprano Christina Rohm, lyric soprano Anna Noggle, coloratura soprano Kelli Butler and mezzo-soprano Anna Tonna, singing a varied selection of favorite arias, duets and ensembles.


The accompanist is Georgianna Pappas, and narrator is Camille Coppola.

This concert is part of the New Rochelle ArtsFest being celebrated all weekend by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts.

Christina Rohm, hailed as “outstanding” by Opera News has performed extensively throughout the tri-state area, as well as in Florida and Texas, appearing with New Rochelle Opera as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus. Anna Noggle, who sang the role of Liu in New Rochelle Opera’s Turandot, is known for her electric stage presence and “powerful rich voice”, and has performed throughout the area, including Lincoln Center. Kelli Butler, in addition to winning many awards throughout the tri-state area, has sung in Italy, and was recently seen as Adele in New Rochelle Opera’s Die Fledermaus.

Anna Tonna, who was a Fulbright Scholar in Spain, has been critically acclaimed for her many mezzo-soprano roles, as well as for her zarzuela repertoire. She appeared with NRO most recently in La Traviata.

Georgianna Pappas, who has played piano since she was 5, has performed as accompanist and musical director for many companies throughout the tri-state area. She has been the chorus director and rehearsal accompanist for New Rochelle Opera for many years.

Tickets are $20 general admission, and $18 for seniors. Reservations may be made by sending a check payable to New Rochelle Opera, Inc. and mailing to P.O. Box 55, New Rochelle, NY 10804. I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
